It’s a visually striking harness that uses carefully placed rope wraps around the hips and thighs to create an elegant, lifting frame that accentuates the natural curves of the body. Playful yet precise, the Booty Basket introduces key principles of tension, body mapping, and communication, and serves as a beautiful foundation for exploring more advanced lower body ties.

8:00 - 9:15: Open format - Tie, practice, meet, mingle, watch & learn. We’ll play some tunes, and you can hang out and have fun.
What is Shibari?
Shibari is the Japanese art of rope bondage—an intimate and beautiful practice where rope is used to create connection, sensation, and sometimes stunning visual designs on the body. While it can be erotic, it’s not always sexual. For many, it’s a way to build trust, explore power dynamics, or simply enjoy the meditative, immersive experience of being tied or tying someone else.
At its core, shibari is about consent, communication, and connection—and it welcomes curious newcomers just as much as seasoned rope lovers.
Ariana
Ariana is a passionate shibari artist and educator who started her journey as a rope bottom over 10 years ago, became a reluctant rigger, learned to love tying, and is now a dedicated rope switch. Ariana founded Rope and Relationships (R&R) to help others use rope as a powerful tool for connection, embodiment, and play. With a diverse background in psychology, health behavior, theater, and Pilates, Ariana offers a unique, holistic approach to her teaching and coaching, inviting you to connect more deeply with your partner(s) and yourself.
FAQs
What is the start and end time?
Please arrive between 7pm and 7:15.
The demo will start promptly at 7:15, and the event ends at 9:15pm.
Do I need to bring a partner to tie with?
Nope! Regardless of whether you are more interested in tying or being tied, you are welcome to come solo if you’d like! We’ll be teaching some ties that can be learned & practiced without a partner, and there will be other people attending solo if you’d prefer to partner with someone. Plus, there will be plenty of interesting things happening if you just prefer to watch & socialize.
Is play allowed at this event?
This is a rope-focused learning and social event. Rope practice and sensation exploration related to rope work are permitted.
Will people be getting naked?
Many people enjoy the sensation of rope directly on skin, so attendees are welcome to undress to your underwear if you like (optional). As this is an educational workshop, we ask that everyone please at minimum keep their underwear on at this event. Please note that it is also perfectly valid & normal to keep your clothes on while being tied if you prefer - in which case we recommend wearing light and comfortable clothing.
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
This event is 21+ only, and you will need to show ID at the door
Will there be food & drinks provided?
We’ll provide water. Feel free to bring any other beverages you’d like to enjoy for after the demo & tutorial has concluded.
